I'm heading out tomorrow morning with Mr. Lo to check out the LeBasse Projects Pop up show 'Go East' in New York. I'm really excited to go visit NYC, it's been many a moon since my last visit.

My last trip to New York was amazing, got to see sooo much and took rolls and rolls of photos...sadly 6 of the 8 rolls were exposed. This time I'm armed with the ol' DSLR, so we won't be havin any of that!

Anyways I'm gonna go finish packing and listen to a bunch of WNYC Radio Lab podcasts, and maybe format some Annie Hall or Eternal Sunshine for my iPod.

Can - U - Zine??

Canzine....kind of amazing!!

Yesterday I took part in CANZINE, Canada's Largest Zine Fair and Festival of Alternative Culture at the Gladstone hotel. There was sooo much awesome stuff to see there! (posters, cards, books, hipsters, and of course zines). I had the pleasure of sharing a table with Tessar Lo and Martha Chan...things got pretty ziiiiinee-y; we spent most of the day discussing the finer aspects of pastries, unicorns, and of course auto-tune.

Thank you soo much to everyone who stopped by to say hi and picked up a zine! Here are some photos from the day and my new zine that was on sale.

jasmine tea, 24 - 4.25 x 5.5" pages filled with love and passioné!...realistically it's a collections of new drawings, paintings and musings on the finer points of life. It also happens to include the secret ingredient to make great Jasmine tea inside!

Somehow, it turned into Hallow-zine fair...Check out my sweet score!

These ImagiNative Kids are Alright

Last night I checked out the "Non-compliance: Experimental..." shorts film screening at the ImagiNative Media Arts Festival. Not only did I get to check out some *cough cough* interesting films, but I was able to support two of my dear friends as well. Yuta , who provided illustrations for all the promos which have since flooded Toronto...and Amanda Strong, whose short film 'Honey For Sale' easily stole the show! Amazing work guys! You've made this indian proud!

More swag from International illustration sensation Yuta Onoda! Congrats buddy, this was a beautiful campaign, no one deserves it more.

It was a very 'Medellin' style Q&A Danny Guay and Ryan 'The Dragon's Keeper' Christiani eagerly awaiting the films to start. The evening was filled with a surplus of awesome stuff...namely some wicked t-shirts (see Bear and Wolf above).

Also I wanted to mention that the preview for The Kids are Alright: Final Show is now online.

The Kids are Alright || LeBasse Projects

Here is my contribution to this stop of 'The Kids are Alright' tour at LeBasse Projects, in Los Angeles. This will be the last stop for the TKAA tour. I wanted to give my sincerest thanks to Beau for including me in this tour, as well to all the galleries and owners for hosting us at each stop. Another great reason to come out to LeBasse Projects this weekend, my main man Nate Frizzell will be opening his solo exhibition titled 'Lost in the Thicket'. The work that Nate's done for this solo is pretty unbelievable...it's such an incredible leap from how he was painting just under a year ago. Here are some photos from Arrested Motion's recent studio visit. Definitely something to be seen.

Moments before crisis

I am incredibly happy to present my very first silk-screened print 'Moments before crisis'.
This print marks a rather trying time for me and the beautiful things that have been born of it. I hope that I can share it with you.

The prints were hand silk-screened by Jon Todd and is the first print to be released with his new artist print line at 'Jon Todd Prints' . Each print measures 20 x 26" (50.8 x 66cm), and is a limited edition of 25 with a few APs, signed and numbered by me.

Softly Encompassing the Womb

I just wanted to give a shout out to Mr. Edwin Ushiro who will be having a solo show this weekend at LeBasse Projects gallery. I seriously believe that Edwin produces some of the most honest and unique work out there these days, and that's not just talking about his insane process! The work that he made for his solo last year blew my mind...and this year he's set the bar even higher. The preview for his show is now up on the LeBasse Projects website, definitely check it out.

Also he just did a phenomenal interview recently, very insightful.

If your in the LA area this weekend, this is one that's not to be missed.

I must apologize to everyone if I wasn't able to respond to your emails and what not, I've been without internet for a little while now...it's been "interesting" to try and conduct business via my phone. Kind of nice to be totally away from it though. I will try to get back to get back to everyone as soon as I can. Oddly enough it times out this post quite well.

Yesterday I was finally able to check out the last day of Fanexpo 09. It was pretty awesome...soooo much stuff to see, and oh sooooo much money I wish I could spend on cool stuff! After walking back and forth to my car like 6 times... finally finished the night off with some sushi at Sushi Time!! Ton's O Fun! Hopefully next year I'll find myself at one of them tables with my goods. Congrats to everyone who took part...it was le Awesome!

This first video is "Ant View by Jörg Brönnimann". This short was shot with a Canon Mark II *drools* and it features ants as its main focus and it captures some really nice macro shots of the beasts.

PEN Canada

The reports are in!!

**I briefly posted these up a while back, but thanks to a friendly heads up I realized I should probably hold off until the report was printed before posting anything :). But it's printed now!

I received this hefty and very, VERY well designed package in the mail a couple weeks back. And I was soo jazzed up about I photo documented the affair.

A few months back I was extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to collaborate with the wonder folks over at Soapbox Design on this years PEN Canada annual report, here's a link where you can see all the reports that have been done in the past. I had an incredible amount of freedom to work with, and pretty much the only restriction was that the pieces had to be done in ballpoint pen (booyah!).

Firstly, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who came out to the show last night! It was soo much fun to see everyone, and embarrass myself in a deep v :S...I'll be sure to post some photos from the opening.

Cooking with Christiani

This past year my main man Ryan Christiani and I would go on little culinary adventures in the kitchen... as many know beyond just being fantastic at the guitar, 'bicycletteing', FPSs, and hair growing....he is a CULINARY LEGEND. I dubbed our little cooking episodes "Cooking with Christiani"

Ryan proved to be quite the adventurous chef, he would dabble in a little bit of everything from reductions to vinaigrette...stuffed portobello mushrooms to exciting medley's of flavors and sensations!

Exciting dinner meals, and deserts too! (no photos of those though :( )
Once he fashioned a very awesome makeshift cake out of two cheese cakes and some do it yourself icing! It was pretty awesome!

Christiani constantly has the ladies clammering over him...but always succumbs to his true passion.

We would invite guest chef's to come in every now and then ... a iron chef style (of course Ryan was always Mario Batali). Sometimes they would be more Country themed episodes, and others a little Asian fusion.
With the swagger of a young Jamie Oliver and the looks of an irish Giada De Laurentiis, Mr. Christiani has opened my eyes to the great land that is 'Flavor country'.

This is another one of my pieces that I'm contributing to The Kids are Alright show at Show and Tell Gallery this Friday. I got a chance to see the rest of the work in the show today, and it looks really great! I'm pretty excited...I might just have to wear an extra deep V D:. I'm really excited for the next stop in 'The Kids are Alright' to be so close to home!
The opening night is on Friday, August 14th, at Show & Tell Gallery at Dundas and Ossington. A huge thanks to Beau and Simon for making all this happen.
