through rainy eyes...

I feel like I haven't posted sketchbook stuff in sooooo long... here are 'some' scans of two of my older sketchbooks from this year.

*I apologize in advance for the length of this post, I'm a bit of a jerk.*

For a while there it was really feeling very uninspired...just kind of design by reflex--sans heart if you will. I've been really enjoying getting back in touch with journaling, writing, reflecting... i don't know. It feels kind of like taking a second to catch your breath, sometimes you just need that 30 second break... and sometimes it takes a while before your able to run again...(i don't really know if that technically applies...but hey its my blog! I'll say what I want!

Anyways, Lost is coming on soon, so i'm off.

Thanks for stopping by! A bien tot!

Start slowly

It's been quite a while since my last post. The past couple of months have been...interesting, to say the least.

Starting with a trip across the world to get back in touch with my ancestry, and see what the motherland has to offer. I spent most of December and January in India. It was an incredible experience, that yielded it's share of beauties and hardships...After watching some of the videos from the trip, I felt like a fragile wuss who complains a lot, haha. I don't want to say all the cliché things about how it really makes you appreciate everything you have and how it is a completely different world...but it kind of is...I mean FLUSHING TOILETS AND SHOWER CURTAINS. WOW! We were really fortunate to have met some great people on the trip who really took it on themselves to be our guides in the foreign land. pretty amazing...might even go back! haha. There's no way to say it in a few lines about how incredible the experience was.

It was actually really difficult to adjust back to being in Canada, things had just shifted, and I felt really out of place (especially having lost all that weight :S ). So I've really been trying to take it slow, and make each step count...that's not to say I'm not trying to get shit done.

I recently had a piece in the 'Movers & Shakers' show at the POV evolving gallery, in LA. The show is filled with a a lot of artists that I respect and look up to and I'm incredibly thankful to have been able to take part in the show. A big thanks to Beau for hooking me up with that!

Sidebar- It's actually a funny coincidence, a couple of weeks back Cathie Bleck was in town for her show @ Meta Gallery here in Toronto, and we were fortunate enough to have her give a talk at Sheridan. This lady's got soul...just a really cool person! Anyways, we were hanging out later that week and got to talking and turns out we both had a piece in the POV show. Pretty small world!

In other news, Bryce Huff-man! and I along with the illustration council, have been curating a fundraiser show that opens on March 20th at JEROME JENNER gallery titled: 'the Birds and the Bees'. It's going to be featuring a huge number of illustrators and fine artists, not gonna want to miss it... but more on that later.

Here are a few progress shots of some things I've been working on.

I was really struggling for a while, trying to figure where everything fit, with a lot of things in my life, especially with my work. After a little bit of time and a few failed pieces, things are starting to shape up, and feel a little more honest. Baby steps i guess...

Anyways, enough chatting for now...time to power down a protein shake and get to it!
Take care!
