Je ne veux pas travailler

Last week I had the pleasure of going on a little road trip to the Country and Montreal with the always charming Melodie. It was pretty great, we were heading to Montreal to go support our boys Jon Todd and Martin Wittfooth and check out the work they produced for their two-person show at Yves Laroche Galerie D'Art.

Before heading into Montreal, we took a little stop over to the country to visit Mel's family, and see her AMAZING country home. Why she left, i have no idea! But I know for sure, if I grew up there I would never leave!...it was really hard to leave the country, sooo relaxing.
The open fields behind her house, and the creek (which was very Lord of the Rings btw)...unbelievableGot to meet up with our favorite Half Finnish/Korean wonder Ms. Kniivila! Who happens to be living in Montreal right now, trying to learn un peu de francais! Very Impressive!
Mr. Wittfooth, letting his swagger hang out.
Pappy and Todd
My favorite pieces *
The horse was sooo sweet! I know Mel was in love, obviously haha...but it was actually really crazy!
No one in the corner got swagger like us??....maybe not.

The work that the guys produced was really incredible... it was a really big leap forward for both the guys, and I'm glad that it showed! The show did very well, and the guys have big shows to look forward to in the future! Congrats guys!

Here's a write up that my friend Amanda had done about Martin's work, in case you wanted to check it out.

I want to give a big thanks to the Papp household for putting me up / putting up with me and being such great hosts!

Anyways, I'm gonna try and accomplish something today while I'm home...hopefully not for too much longer, hah. :D

Take care.

Understanding

I've spent a lot of time writing these days, getting everything out to where I can see it...and it's let me think about things, and take the time to look at others and try to understand their passions...while trying to discover and understand my own loves. For some reason I find it easier to see and understand the passion of another, to see their love and motivations more clearly than my own. Maybe it's a matter of being to close to the trees to see the forest... maybe we never really understand it ourselves.

This is me trying to understand the passion of a friend.

*sorry for saying passion so much...i'm just a passionate guy i guess

Sorry I'm Late

I saw this short film the other day and it just blew me away! It was so incredible to see the lengths to which people can travel with a concept. Definitely check out the making of videos...it reminded me of when I was younger and I used to sit and watch behind the scenes featurettes of Batman The Animated Series and Pixar movies for some reason... Anyways, check it out!

I'm sorry for the lack of updates, things have been very interesting and exciting this last little while...I promise to post some of the projects I've been working on. I am proud to report that I am now blogging via Mac, I picked up a sweet new iMac a couple weeks ago, and it is fantastic! The screen is intimidatingly large, and it works smooth as can be! Oh I also joined twitter for all of you who enjoy that, feel free to follow me here.

Here are a few pages from this tiny little watercolor sketchbook I picked up a while ago.
I just realized looking through my bag that I have about 3 sketchbooks on the go right now...each on of them kind of catering to different parts of me, one o them is just pure writing, another a mish mash of writing and drawing, and the other is just naaasty.

Also, wanted to say biggups to my entire graduating class! Way to go team! Hang those degrees avec le pride!
