It's not jibberish~

I've been remembering and dreaming a lot lately. And it's strange, but when I remember old memories, it has that old feeling...it's dated. but its not the same for dreams. When I think back to a dream that I've had they seem fresh and new, like they simply are...no time, no date, just is. The same goes for scent. I was taking a late night walk in my neighborhood, and though it was late, someone had an urge for some barbecue. The smell of smokey fire was lingering in the air all along his street. Walking by I was instantly reminded of the feeling of campfire, and looking in the sky in the Fall season. Not one memory in particular, but a blend. It felt like a new experience, but made from an old sensation. Like the dreams. Timeless nostalgia.

Fan's Labyrinth

Hey Boys and Girls!! Better brush up on your jutsus and get your costumes ready!! Fan Expo is almost here!! This year I will be sharing a table with the lovely and hilarious Ms Martha Chan. Our table number is A123, located in the Artist Alley section of the Toronto Metro Convention Center. Fan Expo begins Friday August 27th and goes all the way to Sunday August 29th. For a full listing of information on the time, date, and attractions of Fan Expo click the image above. I'll be sure to do a post before the expo with some teasers to all the swag that you'll be able to pick up.

Also, fellow 'Fan Expo-neer' (noun. - person who is amongst the first to tread through the new and unfamiliar waters of Fan Expo)  Juan Solon and I will be doing something a little special for Hawk and Squirrel, so please come by and say hi!

Fire in a Fall Sky

'Fire in a Fall Sky'
ink and graphite on watercolour paper. 12" x 16"

Oh hey y'aaalll!
So along with maintaining my strict GTL regiment (it's not that strict...I'm naturally tanned and I only do laundry once a week), I've spent the last couple of days working with Audio Visual equipment to try and put together something a little different from usual.

Here's a time-lapse of a recent ink drawing that I finished.
This was a lot of fun to work on, as brief a time as I spent, I forgot how enjoyable it is to spend time working in After Effects.

Head on over to the Hawk and Squirrel blog to see and read about my full process on this piece, including the tools and materials.

*Note: This is the actual speed at which I ink things. True story.

Thanks for stopping by!

One and Two and Three and Four and get them sit ups right aaaand...

I haven't spent as much time as I would like to drawing and exploring in my sketchbook lately (here are few pages that I did manage to work out). Instead I've been doing more 'in-between' pieces, a) to sort of maintain a rhythm of starting and finishing work in a shorter time and b) so I can have originals to sell on my table at Fanexpo!! But its weird, I guess because it's sort of that added pressure of it not being in the sketchbook, its actually helping me figure a lot more finishing techniques. Kind of like when you do freeweights and you go for more weight less reps, yknow whattumsayin? (gym workout comparison, what?!...sorry, i just had three cups of coffee, and if you know me thats a BIG deal.)

Oh, and while I got you here. One of my bestest buddies commissioned me to design his very first tattoo for him, which I was super-pumped to do! The tattoo is probably only going to be done in line, but I wanted to mess around with some different techniques I've been practicing. Ended up with this happy accident while I was laying down some flats. I wanted to see what you guys think of it as is...if you had any thoughts or feedback on it, and also if you had any suggestions for what direction it could go in.

Thrillher

After a weekend full of sun and fun, friends and excessive drin--cataloging I would like to present the fruits of my labour. My renewed website, back and BIGGER THAN EVER!!!

Its actually kind of the same size, but now with the heart of a lion!! (i.e. the content has been overhauled and updated with new work....cause isn't it whats on the inside that counts? no? okay, just checking.)

Feel free to take a look around at the different sections, as well as some of the links to my other profiles and sites on there.

On a side note, I wanted to say thank you to everyone whose emailed me with questions, comments, commission requests or just to say kind words about my work. It really means a lot, and thank you for your ongoing support.

All right, enough of this sappy crap. I'm going to paint for the rest of the day before I go see Inception again!

Thanks for stopping by!
