Divinations and Butterflies

I recently watched this film about the life of a journalist, who had a condition called 'locked-in syndrome' after he suffers from a massive stroke. The film was truly beautiful, as it depicted the journalist's perspective on the world after his stroke. I wanted to do an illustration about it.

It really had me thinking a lot about what it must be like to feel such a divide, i mean even though he was paralyzed, and his body was so still, his mind was so vibrant and flourishing with thoughts and ideas. Something I found beautiful and tragic.

'Divinations and Butterflies'
mixed media and digital. 17" × 8.5"

(detail)

I wanted to try something a little different with this one, I'd love to hear what you think. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Holy Moses! That colour is insane! It was only a matter of time before you threw down some chroma on those bad-ass drawings. Wicked dude.
